Welcome to our special anniversary year
of performances. This year we celebrate
20 years of singing!
To tie in with our festivities, we’ve created a program for 2013 that recasts an often sad event into a more celebratory one: one that explores passing on as a celebration of life. Death has two faces: one that we approach from the front and the other that we turn back to see. As soon as we read the word we often switch to thoughts of gloom and sorrow, yet many religious and philosophical traditions encourage us to think of death as a release, a more joyous event; a transcendence. Many wonderful works of music have been left to us to help us see both faces, and this year we explore those works. The first concert tackles death as before the fact, the last reflects on death as after the fact – a story told by the voices of those left behind.
In the middle we’ve sandwiched a true celebration – a gala concert of choral favourites to mark 20 years of Coro Innominata. To make it more special, we’ll be inviting past members of the choir back to join us and asking them to nominate their favourite works to perform. We’ll also be taking requests from you, our loyal supporters!
