Musical Director - David Taylor

David Anthony Taylor was born in Wimbledon, London, and started his musical career as a young chorister. From the age of seven he also studied piano with the esteemed Venezuelan recitalist Clara Rodriguez, later taking up the organ and percussion. In 1999 he gained
a BA (hons) Music from Middlesex University where he studied composition with Francois Evans. During the early part of his career David was also a member of the London Philharmonic Choir, performing under the direction of such international figures as Mark Elder, Kurt Masur, Pierre Boulez and John Eliot Gardiner. He went on to take up the position of Organist and Choirmaster at St. John the Divine Church, Merton and pursued a career in choral direction, studying for a time with Paul Spicer at the Royal College of Music. In 2003 he founded the New London Camerata chamber choir.

Before moving to Australia in 2005, David also held the position of accompanist at the Morden Park Choral Society together with a number of teaching positions in and around London, namely at the John Kelly Music School. As a percussionist, David has worked freelance for many orchestras including the Thames Philharmonia and TOPS, in Sydney.

Between 2009 and 2011 David was Assistant Chorus Master at the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs where, in 2010, he travelled with them back to London to conduct them in Evensongs at Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral as part of their tour engagements.

In addition to his position with Coro Innominata, David is also Organist and Director of Music at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Waverley, and works in Sydney as a freelance musician. In the last year he has appeared as a choral clinician for the Australian International Music Festival and as a judge for the Sydney Eisteddfod. Having recently completed his MMus at UNSW, he has since embarked on further postgraduate research investigating the links between music and emotion.
