Remembrance
3pm, Sunday 4 May 2008
Saint Scholastica's Chapel, Glebe
Josquin des Pres stands as a colossus amongst composers of the 15th & 16th centuries. His advancement of polychoral music resonated with composers for centuries afterwards. For the first time Coro Innominata will present one of his most popular masses, the Missa Pange Lingua based on the Gregorian chant for the feast of Corpus Christi.
Partnering Josquin’s masterpiece are other motets for the feast of Corpus Christi from Thomas Tallis and Francisco Guerrero plus works of remembrance and commemoration, including an emotional musical outpouring from Nicholas Gombert marking the death of Josquin, and the haunting elegy Song for Athene by John Tavener which has gained widespread popularity since its use at the funeral of Princess Diana.

French Masters
3pm, Sunday 3 August 2008
Saint Scholastica's Chapel, Glebe
Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem has long held a position as one of the best-loved pieces in the choral repertoire. Flowing melodies and rich harmonisation combine in a beautiful setting that never fails to touch the hearts and minds of its listeners.
Motets from two other masters of French choral writing will accompany the Requiem. The Four Penitential Motets of Francis Poulenc with his idiosyncratic harmonies will contrast with the airy lyricism found in the Four Motets on Gregorian Themes by Maurice Duruflé, completing a program of French sacred choral classics.

O Emmanuel
3pm, Sunday 30 November 2008
Saint Scholastica's Chapel, Glebe
As the year draws to a close we celebrate the start of life with Advent and Christmas music drawn from German Baroque masters. Supported by the instrumental ensemble Concertato we present cantatas by Georg Philipp Telemann, the tender Das Neugeborne Kindelein (The Newborn Babe) by Dietrich Buxtehude and two cantatas by J.S. Bach, the delicate Nun Komm, Der Heiden Heiland, BWV61 (Now Come the Saviour of the Heathen) and the joyous Wachet Auf, BWV 140 (Sleepers Wake). Don’t miss the chance to enjoy the splendour of German Baroque repertoire.
